It's a beautiful boat and we see many whales, including a mother with young children. It's a great experience to see these large mammals (up to 16 meters long and 35 tons) up close. They are very curious and will approach the boat.

Whales are in the area from December to March to mate and give birth. They take their young from the previous year. The rest of the year they live near Iceland and Greenland, about four thousand miles away.

In the summer, they eat about 1.5 tons of fish a day, but during the breeding season they do not eating and as a result lose 20 percent of their body weight. The mother nurses the baby, completely, producing more than 200 liters of milk per day.  
A pregnancy of a humpback whale is one year. A mother its young will spend a year in the bay. Youth in the second winter go to their destination and must continue the migration. The mother becomes available and ready to mate.
